TrueDR definition
TrueDR (True Domain Rating) is an independent website authority score from 0 to 100, built from real backlinks and real traffic, then discounted for spam and manipulation. Unlike classic Domain Rating, it never counts raw link volume, so it can't be inflated with spam or junk links.
It is not a remix of classic DR. DR is never an input; TrueDR builds its own view of authority from the evidence VerifiedDR can observe.
The old proxy
Why classic DR stopped working
Links used to be a decent proxy for trust. Then junk links got cheap: expired domains, guest post farms, directory networks, recycled blogs with no real audience. Link volume can rise while real trust stays flat.
TrueDR exists to show the gap between visible link strength and authority that looks earned.
The evidence
What TrueDR measures instead
TrueDR looks for evidence a site is part of a real ecosystem: relevant citations, independent referring domains, and traffic that backs the links up.
- Backlink quality
- Referring-domain diversity
- Traffic validation
- Growth quality
- Site age and history
- Owner verification context
Missing data lowers confidence, not the score. A new site with a small public trail is not punished. A big backlink number with weak traffic evidence gets more scrutiny.
The discounts
What drags a TrueDR score down
The same links that build authority lose value when the pattern around them looks artificial:
- Spam and junk links
- Thin directories
- Expired-domain patterns
- Traffic mismatches
- Unnatural link surges
- Repeated low-quality sources
A low TrueDR is not an accusation. Sometimes a site is young, sometimes real links lack traffic validation yet, sometimes the profile leans on weak sources. The score exists to force that distinction.
Transparency
Why the exact formula stays private
The signal categories are public, and site owners can see which ones helped or hurt. The exact weights and thresholds stay private: a published formula is a recipe, and link sellers would optimize against the thresholds instead of earning better citations.
Use cases
How to use the score
Compare sites in the same category. Diagnose why a high DR is not backed by trust evidence. Prioritize links from relevant sites that real people visit. Every verified site shows its TrueDR for free; the Pro breakdown ranks next actions by estimated point gain.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is TrueDR?
TrueDR is VerifiedDR's independent 0-100 authority score. It measures earned authority, real links backed by real traffic, instead of raw link volume.
How is True Domain Rating different from DR?
DR is a classic backlink authority score. True Domain Rating is a separate score that checks whether authority is earned: link quality, independent referring domains, traffic validation, natural growth, and manipulation risk. DR is never an input.
Why won't you publish the exact formula?
A published formula becomes a recipe for gaming it. VerifiedDR shares the signal categories and whether they helped or hurt, but keeps exact weights and thresholds private so the score stays useful.
Can I raise my True Domain Rating?
Yes. Earn links from reputable, relevant sites that real people visit, and remove or outgrow junk link patterns that weaken trust.
What if you don't have enough data on my site?
Missing data lowers confidence, not the score itself. When VerifiedDR cannot see enough backlink or traffic evidence, TrueDR is shown with lower confidence and blind manipulation discounts are eased.
Is True Domain Rating free?
Yes. The score and the full signal-by-signal breakdown, including which signals helped or hurt, are free on every verified site's page. VerifiedDR Pro turns that breakdown into a weekly action plan that grows the score.
